Katie Rocks

Talked to Katie tonight and tried to vibe all of everyone's good wishes toward her and the little to be one. She's resting at home and banished to bed. She has a terribly active and intelligent mind-- she's an English major lawyer with interests in psychology, Victorian literature and alternative rock (circa 1993, LOL). Any suggestions on what I might send her to pass the next few weeks as comfortably as a brother might make possible? Books? Crosswords? Voodoo hexes?

  1. I'm a little behind on my journal reading, I'm glad your sister Katie is okay.  If she's on complete bedrest, I'm sure  she'd appreciate books, magazines, movies, CD's.....things like that to help pass the time :-)

    Brotherly Love ... Awww ...
Sounds like you're already on the right track with ideas and hopefully Katie already has access to a lap top computer, that should help the time fly by.
I can think of a few things that I might like to have if I was on bed rest like ...
one of those lap desks with a hard writing surface and some stationary with stamps or a few boxes of beautiful holiday cards, (there wont be much time for writing once that baby arrives).
Kids should come with owners manuals but they don't so this might be a good time to read up on child development books at least. If she doesn't have access to video games like Playstation then a hand held electronic game like Black Jack would be a good thing.
A journal that she can start writing to "The Baby To Be" is a thought and even if she has never cross stitched before this would be a great time to give that a try too.
I would probably spend a lot of my time learning a new software program like Photoshop, Front Page or Dream Weaver (but that's just me).
A new Foreign language on tape with a Walkman might be an idea, she would have plenty of time for practice. Then there's always the important stuff like healthy snacks, frequent phone calls from her brother and maybe even making a phone call in a few weeks to find out if her regular hairdresser will make a house call.
Oh, and assuming that is not Katie's belly up there, you could always opt for big red confetti so she can take a sexy pregnant photo like that one for her photo album:-)

  3. Coy had some great suggestions. If I were huge and laid up, I'd want some sort of heated back massage thingy (they make these cool massaging bolster pillows...), chocolate, a couple good books...maybe one on tape in case I just wanted to keep my eyes closed, a blank journal and pretty pen, a full body pillow for back support, some new DVDs to watch, some fun hand held games (I have a cute video poker game, black jack, a gameboy...all from my days recovering from surgery)... put it all in a big box stuffed with a rainbow of tissue paper. Care package...voila!

  4. Happy to hear Katie is back home! I'm sure she will love what ever you send her. (Voodoo hexes are always nice.)
